Spirited, joyful, courageous. Color expert Pantone has spoken... and the design community is listening.
For over two decades, Pantone’s Color of the Year has been the ultimate "influencer" when it comes to interior design and home decor. Same thing goes for other creative industries including fashion, product packaging, and industrial design.
The Pantone Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute™ comb the world looking for new color influences. These can include movies in production, traveling art collections and emerging artists, popular travel destinations, socio-economic conditions, and more.
In 2022, Pantone has seemingly rolled 2020's "Classic Blue," 2018's "Ultra Violet," and 2016's "Serenity" into one. It's a take on periwinkle (remember that one from your beloved Crayola 64 crayon box... the one with the cool built-in sharpener?) that's spritely or sophisticated, depending on how you choose to play it.
This blue with violet-red undertones can be used in abundance or small doses, is decidedly gender-neutral, and works nicely in any room of the home.
